Married at First Sight’s Adrian Araouzou has revealed he and bride Awhina Rutene broke strict production rules when they mysteriously disappeared from filming during the experiment.
Speaking to Daily Mail Australia, Adrian, 30, confirmed the couple secretly stayed overnight at an Airbnb without informing producers – a move that saw the cast turn on them.
‘Me and Awhina went away one weekend and we thought we messaged production, but she messaged the wrong number and we ended up staying with Tony Mojanovski that weekend,’ he said.
The rebellious move shocked co-stars – but Adrian insists it brought him and Awhina closer than ever.
‘Honestly, I think it saved us… we both realised, hey, let’s just pretend we both just met and restart and see where this goes,’ he admitted.
‘And when we’ve done that, look how it turned out.’

Adrian revealed it wasn’t the first time they had defied production’s orders – also confessing they spent three days together in secret after the final dinner party.
‘We weren’t supposed to, but we did. We both got an Airbnb and stayed with each other for three days straight,’ he said.
‘And to be fair, that’s why the Final Vows went the way it did… when you’re away from a partner, you think about all the negatives. But when you’re there, all the problems go away.’
‘That’s a beautiful thing… and with me and her, the feelings were real.’
Daily Mail Australia can reveal that Adrian and Awhina’s Final Vows will be as dramatic as ever, with the couple opting to do something that hasn’t been done before.
Adrian said the connection between him and Awhina has only deepened since filming ended.
‘Me and Awhina are still in a great place. Like we talk, honestly, I reckon four or five times a week. We text probably every second day,’ he said.
‘We’re probably the closest couple that aren’t together.’

But while one relationship stayed strong, another fell apart completely.
Adrian revealed he is no longer friends with his long-time best mate Jasmin Weston, who famously appeared during Friends & Family Week to support him – and clashed with Awhina’s sister Cleo during a heated showdown.
‘She has a lot going on in her life. She’s doing her thing and I’m doing my thing… there’s a few things that she can say, but she’s right to why it ended. Had her reasons and I had my reasons.’
The pair had previously launched a podcast and often shared social content together – but Adrian said the friendship ultimately became too complicated.
‘When that ended, I thought – it’s time that it ended,’ he said. ‘I don’t want another girl that close to me because that can cause friction.’
‘Me personally, I don’t know how I’d feel about it if I met a girl and she was really close to a guy – it can get in between that relationship.’
When asked if Jasmin had romantic feelings for him, Adrian replied: ‘Was she in love with me? No. Nah. No way… Who knows?’
While the end of their friendship was painful, Adrian maintains he has no hard feelings.

‘She has a lot going on in her life. She’s doing her thing and I’m doing my thing… there’s a few things that she can say, but she’s right to why it ended. Had her reasons and I had my reasons’
‘She came into my life. And she benefited my life a lot. And I’ve done the same for her. I’m sure she can admit that… and it was just time for that relationship to sail on.’
He also addressed the explosive family lunch that saw tensions erupt between Cleo, Jasmin, and his sisters – calling it ‘the most upsetting day to watch.’
‘Everyone played a role that day,’ he said. ‘My sisters didn’t do wrong. They were quiet. They were asking questions. We came here to have a nice lunch and try to help you guys.’
Despite the backlash, Adrian said he’s learned a lot from his time on the show – including who his true friends are.
‘When you’re with someone, all those problems go away. And that’s a beautiful thing to have in a relationship,’ he said of Awhina.
‘And with me and her, the feelings were real, hence why it went the way it went.’
As for Jasmin? That chapter is closed.
‘We both validated that it should end… I want to focus on myself and keep building my business. And I’m sure she wants to do that as well.’
