San Francisco 49ers player Nick Bosa has been fined $11,255 for wearing a Make America Great Again hat on live TV.
Speaking earlier this week, the Donald Trump supporter and Republican said that a potential fine would be ‘well worth it’ after he wore the hat during a postgame interview.
Bosa pointed to the hat as he crashed teammate Brock Purdy’s interview following a win over the Dallas Cowboys on October 27.
The NFL has a rule that prohibits players from displaying or wearing political messages.
It was previously reported by CBS Sports’ Jonathan Jones that the league would not be suspending Bosa over his MAGA hat.

But it was revealed on Saturday that Bosa has been punished for violating the NFL uniform and equipment rules.
NFL rules state that ‘throughout the period on game-day that a player is visible to the stadium and television audience (including in pregame warm-ups, in the bench area, and during postgame interviews in the locker room or on the field), players are prohibited from wearing, displaying, or otherwise conveying personal messages either in writing or illustration, unless such message has been approved in advance by the League office.’
Bosa and millions of others got their wish on Tuesday as Trump comfortably defeated Vice President Kamala Harris in a one-sided election.
Bosa, a defensive star, has been an outspoken supporter of Trump in the past. He tweeted messages of support for him before he was drafted by the 49ers in 2019.
Following Trump’s re-election into office, he said election night was ‘fun’ and that he stayed up to watch the proceedings.
The 49ers (4-4) will take on the Buccaneers this Sunday.
