Most women dread swimsuit season.
There’s just something about squeezing into a tiny lycra/spandex garment that forces us to focus only on the parts of our body we don’t love that triggers feeling of discomfort, vulnerability and insecurity.
Swimwear brand Summersalt has teamed up with five empowering females, including DailyMailTV correspondent Alicia Quarles, to design suits that help banish those fears, and instead make women feel strong, powerful and confident.
The Power Suits Class of 2019 collaborators: Swimwear brand Summersalt has teamed up with five empowering females to design a line of bathing suits that will help women feel strong, powerful and confident
Queen: DailyMailTV correspondent Alicia Quarles lent her style savvy to design a two-piece in her favorite color Orchid
And although Aija Mayrock, Isabella Huffington, Katie Sturino, Sarah Herron and Alicia are all very different, they are similar in their devotion to celebrate women.
The five boss ladies have come together to create swimsuits that embody Summersalt’s mission to be sexy on your own terms.
Each suit has features that speak to the collaborators needs and wants, focusing on what makes them feel most authentically themselves.
Alicia’s style shows off the décolletage and makes a bold statement with its bright orchid color.
‘My suit is designed for a woman who is on the go, who may not have had tons of time to spend in the gym, but who still wants to feel sporty and sexy in their swimwear,’ said the natural beauty.
‘I went for high waisted bikini bottoms because depending on what I eat, my stomach bloats, and I know that I’m not the only woman who experiences this.
‘I picked the orchid shade because it’s my favorite color; it’s the color of royalty and all women are queens. This bathing suit celebrates our greatness.’
It’s in your head: ‘Mind, soul and body confidence are all connected,’ said the tv co-host
While many might be under the impression that feeling good in a swimsuit is a result of six-pack abs, Alicia believes it starts with the mind.
‘Mind, soul and body confidence are all connected,’ said the television personality.
‘Was I nervous to pose in a bikini? Of course I was. I also don’t want to play into that narrative you have to be supermodel tall and supermodel thin to wear a swimsuit with confidence. Confidence comes when we support each other and believe in our beauty.’
Alicia’s family and friends are her support system and she credits them for uplifting her. ‘It’s beautiful to know I have excellent women in my life. We have each other’s backs,’ she shares.
‘Two women specifically, who taught me so much about being powerful are my mother, Linda Quarles and my best friend, Diem Brown.
‘My mom continues to show me, it’s powerful to give back. Diem, who battled ovarian cancer three times, and passed away when she was only 34-years-old, taught me warrior strength.
‘Even in her darkest hours, she made sure to educate other women in hopes no one would have to go through what she had to. My tribe are all about sisterhood, and that is powerful.’
