Millions of Americans will head to the polls in what is shaping up to be one of the closest presidential elections in US history.
Voters will decide between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris, two candidates who have vastly different visions for America.
The polls could not be tighter as an unprecedented campaign that saw two assassination attempts and a candidate dropping out draws to a close.
At 6pm Eastern Time on Tuesday, the first polls will close in Indiana and Kentucky.
Then the US will wait as ballots are counted across the country to find out who will be the next President of the United States.
In some states, the result will be announced as soon as the voting stops.
But for others – especially the seven battleground states of Pennsylvania, Georgia, Michigan, Wisconsin, Arizona, Nevada and North Carolina – it could be hours or even days until we find out the winner.
DailyMail.com has laid out everything you need to know – hour by hour – about the drama that will unfold, including the closing times of polls in each state, who is predicted to win and when to expect a result.
