Keen British travellers on a budget, take note – the cheapest two dates for booking family Airbnb getaways at home and abroad before the end of the year have been revealed.
New Airbnb data has revealed October 20 as the cheapest day for booking a family staycation for this year or next – departing on any date – with November 4 the cheapest day for booking a family holiday abroad.
The data shows that, for families booking trips in the winter of 2023, October 18, 19 and 20 were all in the top five cheapest days to book, suggesting that families looking to bag themselves a bargain should book within this period this year.
Airbnb’s general manager for northern Europe and mother of two, Amanda Cupples, says: ‘Budget is a top priority for parents, with over a third (38 per cent) admitting it’s their primary concern when planning a trip.’
And booking on a certain date isn’t the only way to save money, she reveals.

The manager continues: ‘Thousands of UK hosts offer an evergreen last-minute discount on stays, and guests can also manage budgets with the Pay Over Time feature.’
Amanda also shares some clever ways to make holiday planning easier – such as using family-focused search hacks to find the best property for your needs.
She says: ‘To help find peace of mind when venturing to new destinations, search within listing reviews for keywords like “family” and “children” by clicking “search reviews” to get a sense of what other parents are saying about it.
‘Filtering accommodation searches by amenities such as high chairs, cots and washing machines will also help narrow down over eight million listings to find a perfect home away from home.’

If travellers are booking as part of a wider group – perhaps as couples, with grandparents or even alongside opinionated teens – then there’s another function on Airbnb that will come in handy.
Amanda says: ‘Families can say goodbye to holiday admin and endless spreadsheets, as guests can now share their Airbnb wishlist with the entire group. All guests can add the homes they like, write notes and vote on their favourite listings.’
