If you’ve been using a magnesium spray on your shoulders or your chest before bed, you might want to rethink your night-time routine.
Clementine Boshevski who is founder of hugely popular Australian brand Salt Lab has revealed the exact places she uses magnesium spray and when.
The mum of three tells Daily Mail Australia: ‘At night-time my non negotiable is using our Magnesium Oil spray on my stomach and my feet.’

‘I like to mix it up by sometimes just spraying my feet or my tummy but also places like the backs of my knees too. Anywhere below the heart is good before bedtime.’
But if you’ve been spraying areas like your neck or chest before you sleep, you might want to reconsider your approach.
Clementine explains: ‘I’d advise spraying places above your heart like your shoulders or your chest in the morning. I also like to spray my finger tips and rub my temples in the afternoons, it helps me focus especially if I’ve been at the computer all day.’
What time do you spray? Clementine says she uses this magnesium oil spray on her tummy and feet at night, shoulders and chest in the morning on fingers and on temples in the afternoons
Magnesium sprays have increased in popularity in recent years with thousands incorporating the practice into their daily routine. The Salt Lab products are said to help relax muscles and are used to help calm the mind with the hero product the Starter Bundle ($55)
And due to demand, the Salt Lab recently launched a new kids’ magnesium spray and Clementine explains how she uses it.
‘Start by applying to feet only for a few weeks, then apply to their tummy and feet and knees or legs, many customers use when their children are having a growth spurt.’
‘Rub in and allow to dry, as with the original spray, consistency is key and daily application is important for best results.’
Since launch, the kids magnesium spray ($34.99) has proven so popular it has sold out in a matter of days, four times in three months.
In fact, Salt Lab as a brand has gone from strength to strength over the past year – which is incredible given the eight year old business suffered a huge loss when a warehouse fire destroyed over a $1million worth of stock in January.
Clementine, her husband and three children, have been travelling around Australia in a van for the past two years and were, ironically, in Tassie’s Bay of Fires when she got the call to say the Melbourne warehouse where they housed their products had gone up in flames.
‘Devastating’: The Salt Lab’s entire stock was destroyed in a fire in January 2023
On the road: Ironically, when Clementine heard about the fire, she and her family, who have been travelling around Australia for the past few years, were in Tassie’s Bay of Fires
Clementine says: ‘We had just accepted the biggest shipment that we’d ever committed to which was about $1.3million worth of stock and when I got the call about the fire, my stomach just dropped.’
What’s worse, the company’s insurance policy didn’t cover the incident.
‘I found out from our insurance that we weren’t covered, it was some sort of loophole. If there had been an electrical fault it would have been, but because it was arson, it didn’t. That felt like the final nail in the coffin.’ the founder explains.
With hundreds of orders unfulfilled and no stock, Clementine says she went into ‘overdrive’ and wasn’t sure if the business would survive. ‘It was the hardest three months of my life in business, I really felt like we had to start again. I didn’t know whether we should shut or doors, or try to save it. It was pretty devastating.’
A family business: Clementine runs Salt Lab with her husband Adam and their three daughters
She decided to turn to social media, to appeal to customers to pre-order items to help get the brand back on its feet. Launching the ‘Build Us Back‘ campaign was a gamble, but it paid off and thousands of pre-orders came in quickly.
‘The response was overwhelming and pretty incredible,’ the mum-of-three says. ‘It’s not until you go through something like this that you realise what an incredible community you have, what amazing customers we have.’
Now, more than seven months on from the fire and the brand, which Clementine runs with her husband Adam, is enjoying their biggest year to date and Clementine and her family are still exploring the country on the road.
‘I firmly believe that the most incredible things happen for a reason and as hard as it was there is a bigger meaning for all of this.’
‘Now we’re coming into the end of the year and we’ll have had our biggest year ever. We’re about to launch into the US and we have a number of new products in the pipeline.’
