Johnny Depp said he doesn’t want the ‘baggage’ of openly resenting anyone – two years after ending his highly-publicized, contentious legal war against his ex-wife #2 Amber Heard.
‘Honestly, I can sit here this very second and think about all the hit pieces, and how everybody was against me, and yeah yeah yeah he is off the map … endless stuff,’ the troubled 61-year-old recalled to THR on Saturday.
‘I can remember it all. Went through it all. Some of it was not the most beautiful time, some of it was hilarious. Some of it was mad. The thing is, it simply just was, and it simply just is. So, for me, it happened. I learned, man.
‘Everything that we experience, whether you’re given a snow cone or walking your dog, you learn something somewhere along the way. So I don’t have any ill feelings toward anyone. I don’t have this great reserve of hatred, because hatred requires caring. Why carry that baggage?’
Johnny admitted being in the ‘vast wilderness’ taught him ‘a lot’ and he was relieved to disappear in portraying characters onscreen ‘especially when things are crumbling all around.’
Johnny Depp (pictured Sunday) said he doesn’t want the ‘baggage’ of openly resenting anyone – two years after ending his highly-publicized, contentious legal war against his ex-wife #2 Amber Heard
‘Everything has been … it has really, it just is. And on some level, it is gonna be around, that kind of thing. It’s like OJ or something. But hey, it just happened. That’s all,’ Depp concluded.
Over 500M people reportedly livestreamed the six-week civil defamation trial between the three-time Oscar nominee and the 38-year-old In the Fire actress, which was held at Fairfax County Circuit Court in Virginia in 2022.
Amber was found liable in all three matters of defamation raised while Johnny was only found liable in one of three matters of defamation raised – and Heard’s insurer eventually forked over $1M to Depp, which he pledged to donate to charities.
And while there was no evidence of the Johnny Puff: Secret Mission actor abusing anything but kitchen cabinets during the trial, there was plenty of evidence of him in the ER in Australia after the Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom actress threw a bottle of booze at him and severed the tip of his finger.
‘You didn’t get punched; you got hit. I’m sorry I hit you like this, but I did not punch you,’ Amber admitted in an audio recording.
‘I did not f***ing deck you. I f***ing was hitting you. I don’t know what the motion of my actual hand was. But you’re fine. I did not hurt you. I did not punch you. I was hitting you. I’m not sitting here bi***ing about it, am I? You are. That’s the difference between me and you. You’re a f***ing baby. You are such a baby. Grow the f*** up, Johnny.’
Johnny and Heard were only married for 15 months before their acrimonious $7M divorce in 2017 amid back-and-forth abuse allegations.
Depp appeared on Italian talk show Che Tempo Che Fa in Milan on Sunday to promote his second directorial effort – Modì, Three Days on the Wing of Madness – alongside his cast members Riccardo Scamarcio and Antonia Desplat.
