Gamblers turned on Kamala Harris after her testy Fox News appearance Wednesday, sending her chance of victory tumbling by almost 10 percent on a top betting market.
Her interview with Bret Baier was billed as a chance to win over Republicans disenchanted with her opponent Donald Trump.
When it was broadcast at 6pm, users of Polymarket gave her a 41.3 percent chance of victory in the election, compared with 58.6 percent for Trump
But it plunged overnight, reaching a low of 37.4 percent at 10 am, although it recovered slightly as the day wore on.
The market allows political junkies to put their money where their mouths are. The results show that more people are currently betting that Trump is more likely to win than Harris.
Vice President Kamala Harris made her first appearance on Fox News Wednesday, sitting down for an interview with Bret Baier as she tries to win over disaffected Republicans
Some economists believe that betting odds or prediction markets offer a more reliable forecast than polls, because users are staking their own money and face losses if they get it wrong.
The latest numbers, with Trump on a 61.9 percent chance of victory, is also in line with our own DailyMail.com/J.L. Partners election model which has the former president on 62.4 percent.
It came after Harris made her first ever appearance on Fox News, which has an overwhelmingly conservative audience.
She sat down with Baier for 30 minutes for a conversation that was at times bad tempered.
Its most notable moment came when she was pressed on whether a Harris administration would be the same as the Biden administration, a week after saying she could not think of anything she would have done differently to her boss in the past three and a half years.
‘My presidency will not be a continuation of Joe Biden’s presidency,’ she said.
‘And like every new president that comes into office, I will bring my life experiences, my professional experiences and fresh and new ideas. I represent a new generation of leadership.’
Harris’ chance of winning dropped below Trump’s on Polymarket at the start of October. And it plunged more than three points after her Fox News appearance
Harris repeatedly tried to pivot to attack Trump and paint him as unfit for office
She repeatedly tried to pivot to attack Trump and paint him as unfit for office.
‘People are exhausted with someone who professes to be a leader and who spends full-time demeaning and engaging in personal grievances,’ she said.
Her campaign spokesperson Brian Fallon told the Associated Press that she achieved what she wanted to achieve with the appearance.
‘She was able to reach an audience that has probably been not exposed to the arguments she’s been making on the trail and she also got to show her toughness in standing tall against a hostile interviewer,’ he said.
That was not how many conservative viewers saw it.
Baier’s interview style drew praise from former Fox News personality Megyn Kelly.

‘Bret is crushing this and she is incapable of defending her deadly border policies,’ she wrote.
Trump also congratulated Baier for his ‘tough but very fair interview.’
‘Great job by Bret Baier in his Interview with Lyin’ Kamala Harris. She has a massive and irredeemable case of TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME,’ he wrote.
Baier has been targeted by some Trump allies for not being loyal enough in recent weeks. But some indicated that all was forgiven.
‘I forgive Bret Baier. He’s literally ending Kamala Harris’s campaign before our very eyes!’ wrote Vince Langman, a supporter of Trump.
