Trumpworld opened a new front on Thursday in its war of words with George Conway, the anti-Trump husband of presidential counselor Kellyanne Conway.
Mr. Conway blasted the president as a ‘laughingstock’ over a misspelled word in a tweet. Brad Parscale, Trump’s 2020 campaign manager, fired back.
‘Think how bad of a husband you have to be to act this way,’ Parscale tweeted in response.
President Trump launched a digital cascade of face-palms with a misspelled word in a tweet following an event with college football’s most elite team where he served a smorgasbord of Burger King, Domino’s, McDonald’s and Wendy’s.
Washington lawyer George Conway, the spouse of Donald Trump’s trusted counselor Kellyanne Conway, continued his snipes at the president on Twitter after Burger King mocked Trump’s misspelling of ‘hamburgers’ on Twitter
Trump 2020 campaign manager Brad Parscale said with the MAGA crowd was thinking, and slammed Conway for publicly carrying on a political feud with his own wife
‘Think of how much of a laughingstock a president has to become to have *Burger King* make fun of him,’ Conway tweeted
‘Think how bad of a husband you have to be to act this way,’ Parscale fired back.
‘Great being with the National Champion Clemson Tigers last night at the White House,’ he wrote Tuesday. ‘Because of the Shutdown I served them massive amounts of Fast Food (I paid), over 1000 hamberders [sic] etc.’
He deleted the tweet hours later, spelling ‘hamburger’ correctly. But the damage was done and Twitter had a field day – especially Burger King.
The chain’s social media account announced that ‘due to a large order placed yesterday, we’re all out of hamberders. just serving hamburgers today.’
Kellyanne Conway is counselor to the president and an uncompromising advocate for him
Trump tweeted Tuesday morning that he served the college football champions ‘hamberders’
Mr. Conway added his two cents: ‘Think of how much of a laughingstock a president has to become to have *Burger King* make fun of him. Sad.’
That led Parscale to one-up Conway, tweeting his jab about ”how bad of a husband’ he was to put his wife Kellyanne in a tight spot.
The Conways are the Trump adminstration’s most high-profile odd couple, but they’re not the first to rock Washington’s norms with a mixed-politics pairings..
During the Bill Clinton administration, his campaign manager James Carville pushed a liberal line at every opportunity while his wife, former George H.W. Bush campaign chief Mary Matalin, advocated for conservatism.
Parscale was Trump’s campaign digital director in 2016 but will run the entire re-election effort, which is said to be heavy on computer data analytics and voter targeting
Trump’s son Eric has also clobbered George Conway on Twitter for undermining Kellyanne
Mr. Conway has drawn harsher rebukes in the social media age than that couple experienced in the 1990s.
Eric Trump, the presidnet’s middle son, slammed him in December for disrespecting his wife by throwing shade at the president she advises.
‘Of all the ugliness in politics, the utter disrespect George Conway shows toward his wife, her career, place of work, and everything she has fought SO hard to achieve, might top them all,’ he tweeted.
‘@KellyannePolls is great person and frankly his actions are horrible.’
