Costco has made a major change to its legendary pizza offering in its food courts.
Previously, customers would order their slice at a digital kiosk and wait for an employee to call their ticket number.
Now however, some locations have switched up the system and customers must stand in a line after ordering, according to online reports.
‘You could (and I watched some people do this) order and then immediately stand in the pickup line,’ the Costco shopper posted on Reddit alongside a picture of the new sign.
It is not yet clear how many of the warehouses have made the change and whether or not it is permanent.
A new system for ordering pizza at Costco’s food court has been spotted by customers
The move may be an attempt to decrease wait times and speed up the ordering process.
Many Costco fans have long complained about lengthy waits for whole pizzas and unclear communication regarding their order status.
‘They don’t care about your number or time of ordering. You get served as you get to the front of the line. That is the only thing that matters,’ one customer wrote of the new system on Reddit.
‘As I watched people grapple with this system, I realized very quickly that you don’t ever want to order a half cheese half pepperoni pizza,’ the original poster wrote.
‘The system works fine for whole cheese and whole pepperoni, but if you do something less common then the wheels can fall off pretty quickly.’
Costco’s food courts are a big draw for its members, and changes draw strong reactions.
Costco recently added sushi to its food courts – but only in Canada. The move angered Americans who wanted to try eight-piece California Crab Rolls for $9.99, roughly $7.40 in US dollars.
There has also been debate in recent years over the price of its famous hot dog and soda combo, which has been $1.50 since the 1980s.
Fans are worried the price will go up, but for now bosses have promised to hold the price.

One thing that has gone up in prices is Costco’s membership fee, which it hiked last month for first rise in seven years.
As of September 1, the warehouse-based retailer’s standard membership has risen by $5 a year, taking it from $60 to $65.
The Executive level – which offers a 2 percent rebate on all Costco purchases made that year up to a total of $750 – will increase by $10 to $130 a year.
Meanwhile, Costco has cut the prices of several of its popular grocery products.
The wholesale retailer said it had slashed the cost of Kirkland Signature products including chicken and olive oil by as much as 13 percent.
