A savvy shopper has shared a ‘genius’ trick to substitute Tesco Meal Deal drinks with a hot beverage at no extra cost.
Jordan Cox – This Morning’s ‘Coupon King’ – revealed Meal Deal fans can opt for a Costa hot drink instead of a cold beverage at no extra cost.
For just £3.40, customers can choose from a combination of a main, such as sandwiches, sushi or pasta pots, a side, such as crisps, yoghurt or cold meats, and a a cold drink, with options including Coca Cola, water or smoothies.
However, Jordan has unveiled a little-known addition to the selection of drinks included in the popular deal.
In a recent video, posted to his Instagram page @couponkiduk, the bargain hunter shared how customers purchasing a meal deal can take advantage of the Costa Express machine, which can set shoppers back £3.40 for a regular Latte.

Cox said: ‘You can get a Costa coffee hot drink from the self service machines as a drink in your meal deal! It has to be the regular size, but they can cost £3.40 alone!
‘The price of a meal deal is £3.40 (with Clubcard), £3.90 without. So if you just went in for a hot drink – you can get a drink and snack with it for free! Or save even more with your lunch.’
He then revealed his method to securing a meal deal for much less than £4 (the cost without a clubcard): by choosing the cheapest individual items included in the deal.
Cox alleges that ‘not all meal deals are created equal’ and that the cheapest sandwich, snack and drink options are ‘actually cheaper than £3.40.’
One possible combination included in Cox’s roundup includes: A ham or cheese sandwich, priced at £1.50, a £1 bottle of water, and a 42g packet of Haribo for 60p – taking the total to £3.10.
He added: ‘So if you get a plain Ham or Cheese sandwich, it’s cheaper for you if you want all three – or it’s even cheaper if you wanted to drop a drink or snack.’
Dozens of fans flocked to the comments to thank Cox for his ‘amazing’ advice, while others shared disappointment over particular hot drinks being excluded from the deal.

One person wrote, ‘Appreciate it,’ while another exclaimed, ‘How did I not know this? Genius!’
A third said: ‘I think the cheapest meal deal is even cheaper than you think. You can get a single 27p banana as a snack.’
Meanwhile, one disheartened customer wrote: ‘Caramel Frappe is not included.’
It comes after Tesco customers were left outraged after it emerged that the supermarket is now selling fruit pots as a main dish rather than a side in its meal deal offer.
In May, an image surfaced of Tesco offering what might be considered an unsubstantial fruit pot filled with berries as a main within the meal deal offer.
Taking to X, a customer shared an image of the updated meal deal with a grape and berry medley as a main, and said: ‘Fruit pot as a main, bring the general election forwards.’
