Big W fans are obsessed with a $14 perfume that smells just like an exclusive fragrance worth $877.
Designer Brands Fragrance Red Baccara ($14 for 100ml) is said to smell just like Maison Francis Kurkdjian cult designer perfume Baccarat Rouge 540, which retails from from $280 to $877.
Megan Nicolls, an Australian who regularly shares beauty recommendations online, raved about the ‘insane’ new Big W perfume that lasts all day.
‘Obviously it’s not going to wear the same or be the same, but I know it’s going to be pretty close,’ Megan said in a video.
She then unboxed the Designer Brands Fragrance bottle – which bears a striking resemblance to the original crystal-style Baccarat Rogue 540 bottle.
‘Oh my god, I can smell it already. That is so, so close. It’s not as strong, but honestly kind of good…Very similar.’
‘That is insane, I could literally wear that every day.’
Red Baccara has subtle notes of jasmine and saffron before softening into a woody blend of amber and cedar, and is evocative of the jasmine, saffron, cedarwood and ambergris scent that has makes Baccarat Rogue 540 so sought after.
Megan Nicolls said that the ‘insane’ fragrance Red Baccara from Big W was an affordable version of the exclusive designer perfume
Fans of the Big W perfume have said Red Baccara ($14) is near identical to the famous Baccarat Rogue 540 scent which costs hundreds of dollars
The beauty fan said the generous 100ml bargain bottle would last her for a long time and was ‘amazing’ value.
She also raved about Big W’s other $14 perfume dupes of popular fragrances such as: Black Opium, Alien, Mademoiselle and Daisy by Marc Jacobs.
Fans of Red Baccara can’t get enough of the ‘dramatic’ fragrance which has been flying off Big W shelves across the country.
‘Love love love! Warm and smooth. Doesn’t last as long as you would want, as it’s delicious in my opinion. Great buy, thank you,’ one said.
‘Love it, it’s an interesting scent full of depth, lasts all day and I am obsessed,’ another agreed.
‘My sister has the original, and I bought this to compare. Had my entire family smell to compare. Overall, they liked this one more than the original. Absolutely worth the money, can’t beat it,’ a third added.
But some fans of the original perfume said that it was still ‘delicious’ enough to be worth the cost for them, and that they only used it for very special occasions.
This isn’t the first time that the bargain retailer has wowed cash-strapped Aussies with its ‘epic’ range of dupes.
Many were stunned when they discovered affordable versions of luxury designer fashion at Big W – with hundreds rushing to get their hands on the bargain items.
Shoppers have noticed styles similar to Aje, Peter Alexander, Aere, Jag, Levi’s and more.
