Style icon Trinny Woodall looks better than she ever has at 60 – and now she’s spilled some of her most ‘gate-kept’ anti-ageing secrets so others can do the same.
The British beauty and fashion guru is disciplined when it comes to maintaining her appearance and longevity.
Speaking to FEMAIL ahead of the launch of her Take Back Time Eye Treatment, the Trinny London founder said she eats double the amount of recommended protein for her age, keeps her sugar consumption almost non-existent, sticks to a strength training schedule and is a huge advocate of supplements.
For Trinny, beauty starts from the inside. Not only does she look radiant, she’s bursting with energy and fuels her body to maintain her back-to-back schedule.
‘I have more energy now than I’ve ever had,’ Trinny said.
‘It’s not about taking that time, anti-ageing or maintaining your youth to me. It’s about when you look in the mirror, do you feel full of energy, that you could do anything with your day or do you feel tired?’
‘I don’t look at myself and think, “Oh my god, I look older!” I look and think, “Do I look alert and vibrant?”
‘When we look back in the mirror and we feel that reflected back in us, we feel capable of doing anything.’

Prioritise protein and cut RIGHT down on sugar
Over time Trinny has learnt to prioritise her protein intake and has drastically cut out sugar as it can cause serious inflammation in the body.
She admits she would physically see her ankles swell up within minutes after consuming too much sugar – something she spent years enjoying in large amounts.
Now every morning she starts her day with a big, hearty breakfast regardless of what’s in her schedule.
She often eats an omelette with three eggs and chopped parsley on top but used to devour a croissant with a coffee.
‘For me I try to avoid things that are inflammatory. I was a real sugar junkie and would always have gummy bears in the afternoon or sweet cookies,’ she said.
‘Now I try have a lot more protein and do double my body weight in protein everyday, which is a real challenge. Sometimes I’m shoving another egg in my mouth in the afternoon.’
Trinny mentioned that because she’s postmenopausal it’s more important than ever to eat protein as it helps with strength, protecting bones and muscle development.

Trinny explained the endorphins from strength training makes her feel as though she can take on the world.
‘When you physically feel your strength, your mental strength increases and I think the two are so connected,’ she said.
‘I only lift 10kg weights but after I feel like I can do anything – bring it on!’
Lifting weights can not only help you burn fat and build muscle but also help improve cardiovascular health.
Rather than pilates, which she used to do, she opts for a dynamic type of yoga twice a week.
Trinny admitted she used to be a ‘sugar junkie’ but now barely eats sugary food at all
Vitamin C is essential
Trinny helps her skin from the inside out by taking high doses of vitamin C. She also uses it topically.
‘A topical vitamin C and ascorbic acid is important, especially in Australia, where you’ll have the effect of pigmentation. SPF 50 is also a given, but layer on your vitamin C first,’ she said.
‘The only way I got rid of my pigment is when I woke up one morning and thought, I have to do vitamin C and SPF 50. UV B causes burning and UV A causes ageing, and sun damage can happen through your window.
‘If you’re on a budget you could try find a powder form of it or a pure ascorbic acid but not all skin types can handle it, which is why vitamin C is usually formulated with other ingredients.’
Previously she’s suggested upping Vitamin C, as its known for treating pigmentation, and introducing retinoids (Vitamin A).
‘If it’s a recent pigmentation, accelerating cell turnover [via retinoids] will push through and break down pigmentation… unless you have melasma which you need professional treatment for,’ she said.
‘My skin oddly is quite consistent all year round as I put a lot of effort into it,’ she added.
‘When you have a smaller skincare routine you will feel the seasonal change more but when you have a consistent one with active ingredients you don’t need to. The one thing I might do differently each year is use a lighter moisturiser in summer.’

Trinny, who exclusively uses her own skin range, is also a big believer in supplements and takes 25 a day. While she admits they’re not for everyone, she has seen a huge difference with her own routine and mood over time.
Medical professionals should be consulted before trying anything new.
In the morning she takes four or five capsules of INGENIUS Beauty collagen followed by estrogen, testosterone and Magnolia Rhodiola – she says the latter has been a game-changer for her mood.
