Donald Trump has expressed disbelief at the way Doug Emhoff has been treated by the media following allegations he slapped his former girlfriend, had an affair with his children’s nanny, and behaved badly in the workplace.
DailyMail.com revealed last week that three friends of the woman said he struck her so hard that she spun around while waiting in a valet line at the Cannes Film Festival in 2012.
Vice President Kamala Harris‘ husband has denied the allegation, but only to political website, Semafor.
DailyMail.com has previously revealed the ‘second gentleman’ cheated first wife, Kerstin, with Najen Naylor, now 47, who also taught at their children’s school. She became pregnant but did not keep the child.
Emhoff has confirmed the affair.
On Tuesday, DailyMail.com also revealed Emhoff was ‘inappropriate’ and ‘misogynistic’ at his LA law firm firm Venable, yelled expletives, held a men-only cocktail hour in the office, revoked work perks from women who didn’t flirt with him, and took only young, attractive associates in a limousine to a ball.
A 2019 lawsuit also claimed sex discrimination by other partners in the LA office Emhoff ran, and that while engaged to Harris, he hired an ‘unqualified’ part-time model as a legal secretary ‘because she was young, attractive and friendly with the powerful men in the office’.
Trump said coverage would be very different if he or one of his associates had been the subject of the story.
He described watching the ‘second gentleman’ being interviewed on MSNBC.
‘And it was like a love fest. Never asked him about that,’ he told the Ben Shapiro show.
‘Never asked him about the other one. You know, he had numerous, numerous problems, never asked him about anything.
‘And we’re saying he’s like a symbol for all men all over the world. It’s the craziest interview I’ve ever seen.
‘If that were me it would be the greatest story in the last five years.’
In fact, the interview with former White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki was broadcast before the latest allegations surfaced but after Emhoff admitted that his first marriage ended after he had an affair with the nanny and got her pregnant.
That did not stop Psaki fawning over her guest.
‘Something that has also been an important part, an interesting part of how people have talked about your role here, is how your role has reshaped the perception of masculinity,’ she said.
Donald Trump said he couldn’t believe how the media were treating Doug Emhoff
Supporters say Doug Emhoff, Kamala Harris’ husband,’ has reshaped ideas of masculinity but recent allegations have undermined that idea
Trump made his comments during an interview with rightwing agitator Ben Shapiro
‘And I’m not sure you planned on that, but you are an incredibly supportive spouse.’
Since then, DailyMail.com revealed the slap allegations.
And today it emerged that attorneys who worked with him at his former law firm Venables said he shouted expletives and revoked perks from women who didn’t flirt with him.
Emhoff never responded to DailyMail.com about either set of allegations, but in a statement to politics website Semafor a spokesman said, ‘This report is untrue,’ and added that ‘any suggestion that he would or has ever hit a woman is false.’
