It’s often better value to stay in an Airbnb than a hotel – but one man has seemingly found the UK’s cheapest.
Posting as ‘To Hull and Back’ on Facebook, John Levesley shared a video of himself checking into the £11-a-night property in York – one of the most expensive places to rent in the UK.
The reason this Airbnb is so cheap? It’s actually a shed at the bottom of a garden – with no electricity.
‘It’s not going to be great,’ John says, as he opens up a lock box to let himself in.
Opening a side door to let himself into the garden, he says: ‘It’s very, very basic. There’s no electricity and nothing in it.
’It’s basically a shed in someone’s garden.’
He then adds, while looking around the outside: ‘I can’t see a toilet which is going to be a bit problematic.’
Despite the lack of loos, the inside of the shed is slightly more passable as accommodation, containing a single bed, a mirror, and windows with curtains.

But John soon points out some flaws.
‘There’s a few gaps in the panels,’ he says. ‘But you can’t really whinge for £11.
‘I just hope it doesn’t rain tonight and hopefully I’ll have an alright sleep.’
John seems content with his shed room, even suggesting it for a ‘romantic break with your partner’!
He adds: ‘I’m not even doing this to take the mick. Fair play, someone’s doing something to make a few quid.
‘It’s very peaceful, and I’m a simple man, I’d be happy with a tent in the woods.
‘There’s a product for everyone. It’s not perfect, but it is what it is.’
But the vast majority of the comments couldn’t agree with him on this Airbnb shed.

One wrote: Did you say you paid them £11? I think it should have been the other way around. They should be paying you John!’
Another agreed: ‘Is there a lock on the inside? I couldn’t cope without a toilet, I’m old so have to be up umpteen times a night.’
A third commented: ‘Honestly go home. That looks like a prank lol better go to a hostel than that joke. Lol.’
And someone else shared a picture of a wheelie bin, joking: ‘Come and stay in our Airbnb John. No gaps in the walls or roof, fully waterproof.’
