- No NRL games in Sydney across round six
- Double header in Perth, Darwin also hosting
- AFL is staging Gather Round in Adelaide
Sydney-based NRL fans will have to look elsewhere for their footy fix this weekend with no games to be staged in the Harbour City.
It is a similar story for Swans and GWS Giants supporters, with scores of AFL fanatics heading to Adelaide, as all 18 clubs are to be based in the City of Churches for Gather Round.
A quick glance at the NRL fixture list sees the Dolphins host the Panthers at Suncorp Stadium on Thursday, April 10 at 7.50pm to kick-off round six action.
Friday sees the early 6pm clash between the Dragons and Titans in Wollongong, on the NSW south coast followed by the Broncos taking on the Roosters in Brisbane from 8pm.
Saturday from 3pm sees the first game of a double header in Perth with the Sharks as the ‘home’ team versus the Sea Eagles.
At 5.30pm, Wayne Bennett’s Rabbitohs line up against the Cowboys at the same venue in the Western Australia – Optus Stadium – before attention turns to the Eels and Raiders.

Daily Mail Australia understands the last time no games were pencilled at a Sydney venue across a full NRL round was in 2016, where matches were played in Brisbane, Wollongong, Canberra and Newcastle.
Eagle-eyed supporters on reddit suggested instead attending an A-League game on Saturday, April 12 when Sydney FC host Auckland FC at Allianz Stadium from 5pm – or 24 hours later at Commbank Stadium in Parramatta when the Western Sydney Wanderers lock horns with Western United.
Another option for sports fanatics is dusting off their suit or dress and attending Royal Randwick for the Group 1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes over 2000m on Saturday afternoon.
One footy supporter joked that staging no NRL games in Sydney was a deliberate move from ARLC Peter V’Landys given he wears two hats as the CEO of Racing NSW.
Another suggested attending the Royal Easter Show, which will run from Friday, April 11 to Tuesday, April 22 at the Sydney Showground.
