Glen Powell and Tom Cruise, who starred together in 2022’s Top Gun, reunited on Thursday at CinemaCon.
The 36-year-old Anyone But You actor — who recently fueled Sydney Sweeney romance rumors — was at the Las Vegas convention to talk up his latest movie, The Running Man.
Meanwhile, the 62-year-old filmmaker was there to plug Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning.
During his film presentation Glen revealed he called Tom for advice while he was preparing for his role.
Per an account from Deadline, he said, ‘When I was cast, Tom was my first call… to learn how to run. He said, “Film yourself running as soon as possible. You don’t look as cool as you think.” And we did.’

He noted, ‘And, as you talk to these running coaches [they say] there’s, like, only one actor that knows how to run on screen. It’s Tom Cruise.’
Powell also described the Eyes Wide Shut star as ‘a guy that doesn’t hide his excitement about what this all means. You know, the theatrical experience and working hard and investing and putting your body on the line to entertain audiences.’
Another veteran entertainer he spoke to ahead of filming The Running Man was Arnold Schwarzenegger, who starred in the original 1987 feature.
‘Arnold gave us his blessing,’ Glen told People magazine, adding, ‘[His son] Patrick Schwarzenegger is a great friend of mine and I asked Patrick if I could talk to Arnold — and I hadn’t seen Arnold since we shot Expendables in Bulgaria.’
He reiterated, ‘Arnold gave us his full blessing and we get to give Arnold a very specific, fun gift from the movie in a couple of weeks here. So I’m very excited to see him.’
For Thursday’s event, the Texas-born actor sported a brown suit with a button-up white shirt.
He was joined by co-stars Edgar Wright, Colman Domingo, and Josh Brolin.
Their movie is slated for a November 7, 2025 release from Paramount Pictures.

Glen and his Anyone But You co-star Sydney, 27, reignited romance rumors when they were seen attending his sister’s wedding last weekend in Dallas, Texas.
His mom has since spoken out about her son’s relationship with the blonde siren.
In an exclusive phone call with Daily Mail, Cyndy Powell put an end to the chatter, sharing, ‘They’re definitely not together. It was just, like, she was there [at the wedding] with her friend.’
Sydney is ‘really close friends’ with the whole Powell family, she added, and in particular Glen’s sister Leslie, a Los Angeles-based singer and songwriter, who was tying the knot with Thomas Gillespie.
While appearing on Today’s Jenna & Friends segment this week, the Hollywood heartthrob confirmed what his mother said as he emphasized, ‘[Leslie] and Syd are obviously great friends and it was a hell of a wedding.’
