An airport lorry has smashed into an easyJet plane that was due to transport Brits around Europe.
The collision between the yellow truck and the stationary easyJet A320 aircraft happened on the tarmac at Paris Orly airport early this morning, causing travel delays.
The plane was set to fly from Paris to Rome but the flight was cancelled following the accident.
‘There was no way the plane could take off. It was due to complete six flights today but will now be grounded for rigorous safety checks,’ a source told the Sun.
‘Bosses were forced to rip up flight plans. It’s a major incident and will leave a bill in excess of £100,000.’
Pictures show the lorry’s crushed windshield as it is lodged underneath the aircraft, with visible damage to the plane’s fuselage.
No passengers were on board the 146-seater plane when the crash happened.
The cause of the collision is not yet known, but investigators are understood to be looking into the possibility of the truck driver accidentally hitting the accelerator rather than the brake, according to the Sun.

The airline said in a statement: ‘easyJet can confirm that an airport vehicle struck an aircraft at Paris Orly airport while it was parked overnight and no passengers were onboard.
‘The aircraft will undergo the required inspections and repairs in line with manufacturer instructions.’
This comes after a catering truck smashed into a plane in Italy earlier this month leaving hundreds of passengers stranded – and hungry.
The Boeing 777 was struck by the food van while it was parked at Milan Malpensa International Airport on March 5 at around 11.30am, causing a large dent to the aircraft.
The 392-seater plane, operated by Chilean airline LATAM, was refuelling before a 12 hour flight to Sao Paulo’s Guarulhos Airport.
But damage to the underside of the plane forced the flight’s cancellation.
Following the collision a gaping hole near the tail appeared, with the skin of the rear underside torn.
LATAM Brazil said they cancelled the flight after the catering truck made contact with the fuselage of the aircraft. No injuries were reported.
Footage after the crash shows the plane pulling away from the truck, which was supposed to deliver onboard food supplies, as the driver remains seated inside the van. A KLM runway staff member is spotted filming the damage.

In 2023, a truck collided with a Ryanair Boeing 737-800 at London Stansted Airport, damaging the vehicle’s roof and slicing into the aircraft’s wing.
Some 103 passengers and six crew were on board the Ryanair plane, which had right of way as it turned across the road towards a different stand following an inbound flight.
The crash was caused by the vehicle driver being tired and distracted, an investigation found.
