This tiny bridge in the clouds was constructed in 1987, but leaves visitors feeling that they’re ‘lost in a fairytale’.
It’s even nicknamed ‘Fairyland Bridge’.
But as these pictures show – crossing it is not for the faint of heart.
Buxian Bridge, as it’s officially called, connects two soaring granite peaks in a gorge in China‘s otherworldly, Unesco-listed Mount Huangshan district, with visitors accessing it via tunnels on either side.
The bridge is only a few metres long, but it sits at an altitude of 1,700ft/518 metres – and there’s an abyss beneath it.

Tripadvisor user ‘Hoben01’ from California recommended that those with acrophobia (a fear of heights) should not look down.
But the reward for venturing there is a photo opportunity like no other.
As reviewer ‘elvi6’ from Vienna says: ‘I felt like a princess in Middle-earth.
‘It gives visitors the feeling that they are “lost” in some sort of fairytale that has come into life.’
She adds that the bridge is a ‘must visit’ in the area.
Unesco notes that Huangshan, in Anhui Province, is known as ‘the loveliest mountain of China’ and ‘holds [a] fascination for visitors, poets, painters and photographers who come on pilgrimage to the site’.
