President Donald Trump had barely got into his stride on Tuesday night before a Democratic lawmaker was on his feet in protest.
Rep. Al Green waved his cane at the president and shouted: ‘You have no mandate to cut Medicaid!’
He was unceremoniously escorted out of the chamber and a majority of viewers said that was the right call.
An exclusive J.L. Partners snap poll of 774 viewers for DailyMail.com found that 56 percent of respondents agreed that he should have been ejected.
Less than a third thought it was the wrong decision.
Overall it was a good night for Trump, with a clear majority (57 percent) saying they gave his speech a thumbs up.
Yet Trump did not have it all his own way.
He ran into opposition even as he entered the hall. One congresswoman held up a sign saying: ‘This is not normal.’

Republicans tried to drown him by yelling ‘USA, USA, USA.’
Speaker Mike Johnson, who was in charge of proceedings, tried to restore order.
‘Members are directed to uphold and maintain decorum in the House, and to cease any further disruptions,’ he said. ‘That’s your warning.
Republicans cheered at his intervention.
But Green refused to sit down and Johnson repeated his warning.
‘Mr. Green, take your seat,’ he said. ‘Take your seat, sir. Take your seat.’
That was the final warning. And Johnson then asked the sergeant at arms to intervene and remove Green.
He left to Republican shouts of: ‘Get him out.’

Trump was unfazed.
‘I look at the Democrats in front of me, and I realize there is absolutely nothing I can say to make them happy or to make them stand or smile or applaud, nothing I can do,’ he said.
‘These people sitting right here will not clap, will not stand, and certainly will not cheer for these astronomical achievements.’
Several more Democrats walked out during the course of his 99-minute speech.
Others held up signs reading ‘That’s a lie,’ or ‘Save Medicaid’ to make their feelings clear.
But it did not stop Trump using the address to take a victory lap six weeks after taking office, laying out a string of achievements and listing objectives for the next four years.
‘It has been nothing but swift and unrelenting action,’ he said. ‘The people elected me to do the job, and I am doing it.’
