In a move that has sent shock waves through the lolly-loving community, Allen’s has finally decided to change the most controversial confection in its iconic Snakes Alive mix.
Sweet-toothed Aussies have spent years turning their nose up at the orange snake, which is widely regarded as the least popular flavour in the bag.
But the biggest scandal came when comedian and self-proclaimed lolly aficionado Tanya Hennessey exposed a shocking truth – the orange snake wasn’t even orange-flavoured at all.
‘I found out some distressing news last night and just thought I’d throw the information your way,’ Tanya previously revealed in a viral video.
‘You know Allen’s Snakes? The best. Iconic. You know the orange Allen’s Snake – what do you think the flavour is? Orange right?
‘No, the flavour is actually apricot.. What?’
Now, after years of being branded the ‘worst’ snake in the pack, Allen’s has made the bold decision to swap out the apricot-flavoured orange snake for something new.
The only catch is that the new flavour remains a closely guarded secret until an exclusive fan taste on 1 March.

Tanya’s revelation sent social media into a meltdown, with fans grappling with the reality that they’ve been chewing on apricot all these years.
‘Why would you tell me this? I thought orange was my favourite but I hate apricot! how can this be! I’m questioning my entire life,’ one devastated commenter wrote.
‘This changes everything,’ another lamented, while a third said, ‘This means my whole childhood is a lie.
However, Tanya – who is fittingly leading the ultimate taste test in the town of Orange – said she can’t wait for Aussies to try the mystery flavour.
‘After tasting a new flavour, I can’t wait to see what my fellow lolly lovers think and hope they love it as much as I do!”
For those who can’t make the trek to Orange, there’s still a chance to get a first bite – as 150 limited-edition bags of Snakes Alive featuring the new flavour will be up for grabs.
With the change officially locked in, it’s only a matter of time before Aussies determine if the new flavour will be a crowd-pleaser – or if the orange snake is doomed to remain the runt of the lolly bag.
