Days after trading franchise cornerstone Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers, irate Dallas Mavericks fans are getting refunds worth around $2,000 for canceled season-ticket packages.
It was one of the biggest blindsiding trades in NBA history when Doncic was traded to the Lakers for Anthony Davis and more late on Sunday night. And Dallas’ fans have not stopped being upset with the move since.
The Mavericks have 16 home games left in the NBA’s regular season and are currently in eighth place in the Western Conference, fighting for playoff positioning.
Dallas has boasted one of the best home atmospheres in the NBA in recent seasons, with Doncic’s departure possibly putting a dent in that, per DLLS.
The Mavericks responded to the outrage about season tickets on Tuesday.
‘We value every season ticket member relationship and reps are available to take calls from members with any concerns or questions,’ the Mavericks’ statement read per the Dallas Morning News.

What ended up being Doncic’s final game with the Mavericks was on Christmas Day, when he suffered a calf strain against the Timberwolves.
Doncic is expected back next week and he will make his Lakers debut before the NBA’s All-Star break, which begins February 14.
The trade was even more shocking when it was revealed it was the Mavericks who approached the Lakers about acquiring Doncic.
The Lakers have three home games between now and the break, with Doncic’s debut to likely be one of those.
However, it would be odd for the organization to unveil one of the best players in the league who is now in their camp at a crosstown rival.
The Lakers now have their future star secured with James entering his fifth decade on this planet, with the living legend not expected to be moved away from Los Angeles before Thursday’s trade deadline.
Dallas on the other hand has Davis, Klay Thompson and other good players. And now, massive question marks about its future.
