This is the shocking moment a dead man appeared to open his eyes while lying in a coffin in front of stunned mourners at his funeral.
The deceased man’s loved ones were gathered at his funeral in the Dominican Republic when they noticed his eyelids seemed to be flickering.
Images of the man show him draped in white inside a coffin with a glass window above his face.
His eyes appear to be closed in one image as he lay peacefully inside the case, but in the next moment they seem to have opened as a mourner grabbed a snap.
The eerie incident left the funeral guests startled, with one family member saying: ‘Who knows if he’s fighting for his life?’
Some concerned relatives reportedly suggested calling an ambulance to take him to hospital in case he was miraculously still alive.
But other locals suggested the corpse’s alleged eye movement could have been caused by the mobile phone flashlights.
One said: ‘Post-mortem muscle memory, it presents itself in some corpses’.

Another added: ‘It’s the reflection of the mobile phone torches, look again.’
A third joked: ‘He opened them when he remembered he left his mobile phone behind and didn’t lock it.’
‘He is checking to see who came to his funeral,’ another added.
One more said: ‘He died of conjunctivitis, I think they were about to try giving him some eye drops.
It comes after a ‘dead’ woman woke up on the way to her own funeral in Thailand in 2023.
Chataporn Sriphonla, 49, had seemingly died in transit as she was being transported from a hospital to her home in Udon Thani province on June 29.
While on the way to the Ban Dung district inside a van, paramedics believed that Chataporn had stopped breathing and appeared to have passed away.
The van carrying Chataporn’s body was diverted from their home to the Wat Sri Phadung Pattana temple, where the corpse was going to be stored overnight.
Much to the passengers’ surprise, the ‘dead’ woman suddenly gasped awake and opened her eyes.
A woman’s funeral in Peru was interrupted when the woman herself started banging on the lid of the coffin to say she was still alive.
In a shocking twist to a tragic day, stunned relatives carrying the coffin of Rosa Isabel Cespede Callaca, 36, opened it and found their relative with her eyes open looking at them in 2022.
Rosa and the coffin were rushed to nearby Referential Hospital Ferrenafe on the back of a pickup truck where she was quickly hooked up to a life support machine.
Sheepish medics confirmed that she did have vital signs – albeit very low ones – and her condition improved slightly once on life support, giving hope that a miracle was in progress.
But Rosa’s condition then rapidly deteriorated and she passed away a few hours later.
And in 2020, a 20-year-old Michigan woman with special needs was about to be embalmed when mortuary staff saw that her eyes were open.
‘They were about to embalm her which is most frightening had she not had her eyes open. They would have begun draining her blood, to be very, very frank about it,’ Attorney Geoffrey Fieger told WXYZ at the time.
