Lara Trump revealed that she lays the blame for the terrorist attack in New Orleans on President Joe Biden.
She also told DailyMail.com that there are ‘very odd’ links between the New Year’s Day attacks in The Big Easy and outside her father-in-law’s hotel in Las Vegas amid speculation the two could be linked.
Trump said that the Biden administration’s humiliating withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021 led to conditions for the reemergence of the terrorist group ISIS and therefore contributed to the uptick in terrorism.
‘When you look at what has occurred over the last four years in this country – the fact that you had such a horrific withdrawal from Afghanistan, you left a vacuum and a space in the Middle East for terrorist cells to grow and prosper,’ Trump told DailyMail.com in an exclusive interview at Trump National Golf Club in Jupiter, Florida.
She didn’t rule out the possibility that the explosion outside president-elect Donald Trump‘s hotel on Wednesday could also be an act of terror.
‘I think we’re all waiting like everyone else to find out what happened there,’ Trump said. ‘Is there a connection between what happened there and in New Orleans, is there not?’
‘It seems very odd that they occurred in such close succession of one another,’ she continued. ‘But I think we’re going to let the investigation play out and we’ll wait for the authorities to make a decision on what ultimately occurred.’
Shortly after Trump’s interview on Thursday, the FBI said it had so far found no definitive link between the two attacks despite ‘strange similarities’.

A Tesla Cybertruck exploded outside Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada on Wednesday, January 1, 2025. The driver shot himself before the explosion occurred
Trump also revealed that President Joe Biden has not reached out to her husband Eric, who is Executive Vice President of the Trump Organization, about the explosion at their Las Vegas property.
Matthew Livelsberger, 37, who drove a Tesla filled with explosives to the Trump hotel shot himself in the head before the Cybertruck blew up, officials revealed.
The body of the decorated Green Beret was burned beyond recognition in the explosion and was identified through tattoos, Sheriff Kevin McMahill said on Thursday.
Meanwhile, Texas native Shamsud-din Jabbar, 42, flew an ISIS flag as he slaughtered 14 and injured dozens with a rented truck in New Orleans just hours earlier on Wednesday.
The FBI said on Thursday ‘at this point, there is no definitive link’ between the incidents, though Las Vegas officials are still looking for possible connections between the two.
Trump told DailyMail.com: ‘As it related to New Orleans – this was an individual, I think, the authorities just identified as an ISIS supporter.’
She continued: ‘Donald Trump eliminated ISIS during his tenure as president the first time.’
‘And now to see that you have ISIS sympathizers and supporters carrying out terrorist attacks, at least as far as we know in New Orleans so far, that’s really upsetting and that’s really sad because I think it just speaks to a bigger issue that we have overall, which is that this administration, in terms of the Biden Administration, has failed on a lot of fronts.
‘And I think one of the ways that a lot of people see that failure is, and probably started with that withdrawal from Afghanistan, and the way it’s allowed terrorism to kind of take a foothold and grow and, unfortunately, prosper around the world,’ Trump concluded.

Lara Trump was elected last year to be co-chair of the Republican National Committee to help get the party back into power in the 2024 election.
After Trump won and Republicans maintained hold of the House, and retook a majority in the Senate, Trump resigned her post as RNC co-chair. Shortly after, she took her name out of consideration to be the next senator for Florida.
She previewed that she will make an announcement after the inauguration later this month about her next moves.
