The 46-year-old actor, best known for his role as Greg Goldberg in the beloved hockey-themed Disney films, announced on Christmas that he and his pregnant girlfriend Shannon were expecting their first child.
Taking to Instagram Stories, Weiss posted a candid snap of Shannon holding up a positive pregnancy test, with the joyful caption: ‘The BEST Christmas present ever!’
He also revealed the baby’s name, writing, ‘”Charlie”… coming this August.’
Confirming the news to TMZ, Weiss shared that whether the baby is a boy or a girl, the name will be Charlie, in honor of his father.
The couple, who have been together for two years, are also planning to ‘tie the knot soon,’ Weiss told the outlet, adding even more excitement to this new chapter of their lives.

The baby news comes after Weiss put on a pair of skates for the first time in nearly three decades.
‘Last time I skated was the final day of filming D3,’ the 45-year-old actor said in October, referring to 1996’s D3: The Mighty Ducks.
Weiss continued: ‘It’s like riding a bike. With bones that have aged 30 years.’
The Montvale, New Jersey native said that he donned the hockey apparel in a sponsorship for the brand FunkAway, an odor elimination spray.
The actor was seen wearing a goalie mask and a black jersey with yellow trim that read Ducks across the front.
Weiss, who’s been seen on TV shows such as The King of Queens, Las Vegas and Freaks and Greeks, was seen in a clip selling Goldberg replica hockey sticks via his website.
Weiss, who’s appeared in films including Huggin Molly and Drillbit Taylor, captioned the promotional clip, ‘These mini sticks flash me back to day 1 of training camp.’
‘Celebrate the 30th anniversary of D2 with this brand new commemorative item,’ a description for the $100 item read. ‘A replica of my original hockey stick! Cloth tape can be added to the blade and knob for an ultra authentic piece of movie memorabilia. When you hold this stick, YOU are Goldberg the goalie.’
Weiss on February 21 took to the site and said that he had not broken his four-year streak of sobriety.
‘I’m OK, you don’t have to worry about me but thank you – it’s very sweet,’ he said.
Weiss addressed concerns that there was a red substance on his forehead, noting that it was ‘consecrated ash from’ the famed Yoga practitioner Sadhguru.
Weiss wiped the substance off of his head in a clip, telling followers, ‘Alright, OK is that better for you?’

Weiss was seen in a previous clip in which he declared his gratitude for being able to work in the entertainment industry.
‘I get to go out and fly to Florida and hang out with fans and have an amazing weekend and I get paid to do it,’ he said. ‘This is an amazing life: Thank you very much, that is ridiculous and I look forward to seeing you guys out there.’
Weiss also spoke with TMZ about the concern from fans, telling the outlet that he remains focused on staying sober moving forward.
‘If I ever need help I promise I will reach out to people,’ he said. ‘No going backward.’
Weiss told the outlet that the ash was part of a ‘spiritual practice’ he’s involved in that’s ‘been a game-changer in terms of [his] overall balance and levels of joy.’
Weiss has been candid in his journey to sobriety, speaking publicly about his past addiction to drugs such as heroin and methamphetamine, which left him dealing with homelessness at one point.
In a September 2022 interview on the YouTube channel Addiction Talk, Weiss said it had been ‘hard to see’ images of himself when he was in the throes of addiction looking ‘horrible and deathly.’
In the interview, Weiss said that being a child star made him ‘an adrenaline junkie,’ which sowed the seeds of the addiction issues he would face in his future.
‘Things were a lot more exciting for me than the average 13-year-old – taking trips and flying to places and being in movies,’ Weiss said of his childhood. ‘So I was very addicted to the excitement of things. And when that went away, I didn’t really know how to get that feeling. And I found that in drugs.’
