Gen Z have turned their back on traditional English breakfasts, cups of tea and even Christmas parties.
But now it seems the youngest generation are getting rid of another beloved classic, the Christmas dinner.
More than three-quarters of Brits aged 18 to 26 said they would ditch turkey and all the trimmings, mince pies, Christmas pudding, cranberry sauce, Brussels sprouts and brandy butter in favour for other foods on December 25.
The survey, conducted by Aldi, found that instead young people wanted a starter of deep-fried halloumi, followed by crispy fried chicken, and cheesecake or chocolate gateaux for dessert.
And dozens of young people have revealed the same online.
One food lover, who goes by the name cosyseasonlover on TikTok, posted a clip on the platform where she said: ‘Alright, I have a confession.
One Brit, who goes by the name cosyseasonlover on TikTok, said she was having chicken instead of turkey
‘Who here doesn’t have turkey on Christmas Day and has chicken instead? Raise your hands.’
Natalie, from Aberdeen, added that none of her family like turkey, so she didn’t buy one.
‘Can we normalise not having turkey for Christmas dinner because it’s GADS,’ which is a Scottish expression used to express disgust.
Another TikTok user, Nicole said that she particularly dislikes Christmas pudding and Brussels Sprouts and said they smell like ‘farts’.
Speaking of the long-standing fruity dessert, she said: ‘Who is buying these? Christmas pudding may have been a tradition five million years ago but it needs to stop.
‘The only fun thing about Christmas pudding is when people set it on fire.’
Coleen Brooke, 23, from Manchester, said she has always hated turkey and Christmas pudding.

‘Instead I’ll be serving up what people actually like – pizza, curry, fried chicken and cheese-loaded fries, with cheesecake and ice cream for pudding.
‘I’m not sure my parents will be impressed!’
The poll of 2,000 Brits also found that the younger generations would eat Mexican, African and Chinese cuisine, along with a nut roast.
It comes as those in their late teens and twenties have also shunned tea in favour of coffee, hot chocolate, and trendy matcha and chai lattes.
Those aged 18 to 24 would prefer a lemonade, kombucha or juice over a cup of tea when catching up with friends and family, a survey in June 2023 found.
The hearty beverage has even been referred to by some as an ‘old person’s drink’, with people citing the flavour and its ‘cool factor’ as a reason not to indulge in tea mania.
Gillie Owen, aged 20, told the BBC: ‘I suppose there’s kind of an association with tea as an old person’s drink.’ He added that he and his friends would tend to opt for water or diet soda.
And Rebecca Gibbions, 46, owner of jewellery boutique Last Night I Dreamt, told FEMAIL that while she herself is an ‘avid tea drinker’, her teenage children ‘hate’ tea and ‘refuse’ to try it.
Rebecca said her 17-year-old son Reuben finds tea ‘bland’. He also believes tea is an ‘old person’s’ drink, which he defined as ‘maybe late 20s onwards’.
Both Reuben and her daughter Beatrice, 14, would prefer a hot chocolate, with Beatrice calling tea ‘disgusting’.
Meanwhile, Ruth Chipperfield, 35, a jewellery designer from Birmingham, said: ‘I’ve never liked tea. In fact I recently found out my sister and both my cousins don’t like it either. My husband drinks it and my dad does but not me.’
And it appears roast potatoes might be on the verge of becoming extinct after statistics from Lamb Weston has revealed that 80 per cent of Gen Z would prefer a plate of chips over a handful of roasted golden spuds.
It seems London has led this unusual trend, with 54 per cent of people overall keen to replace roasties with chips.
