- Former Brisbane Broncos senior coach Kevin Walters has found a new role
- Walters was sacked in September after his side had slumped to 12th in the league
- Former Origin coach Michael Maguire has since arrived to take charge at the club
Former Brisbane Broncos coach Kevin Walters appears to have found himself a new job, according to reports.
The Broncos parted company with their senior coach in September following a dismal season that saw the 2023 finalists slump to 12th in the NRL ladder.
The 57-year-old’s contract was due to expire in 2026, but it appeared Broncos bosses were eager to cut his time at the club short earlier than expected, following the mixed bag of results the Brisbane outfit had posted during the 2024 season.
Some were left shocked by the decision to let go of Walters, considering his stature as a legend of the club.
As a player Walters made 237 appearances for the club, winning five premiership titles.
According to The Daily Telegraph, Walters appears to be heading back into familiar territory and is set to take up a role on the Fox League broadcasting team for the 2025 season.
Michael Maguire is set to step back into broadcasting and will join up with Fox League as a pundit

Walters will return to the network having previously provided punditry coverage for Fox between 2017 and 2018.
He’ll join up with the likes of Michael Ennis, Greg Alexander and Mal Meninga with the broadcaster.
The former Brisbane coach was quickly replaced by Michael Maguire, who has been working his players hard in pre-season to propel his side back up the NRL ladder.
Maguire has earned plaudits from some Broncos stars, including Reece Walsh, who claimed the new Brisbane boss had handed him a key piece of advice.
Even after the former New South Wales coach had told his players to target the Queensland star during Origin, Walsh wasn’t holding that against the new coach.
‘Consistency is a big thing I’m chasing. Madge (Maguire) is big on turning up here each day, putting your best foot forward and having a red hot crack, and I think that’s something I want to build in my game,’ he said.
‘You look at players like Payne [Haas], where every single game he’s turning up and every single training session he’s turning up. That’s a big thing for me.’
He added: ‘There have been some really good, honest conversations. They are the conversations you want to have to get better,” Walsh said.

Reece Walsh has lumped praise on Maguire for helping him grow and learn as a player
‘It is about me growing as a person and a player.
‘I want to be that player that everyone wants to play with. Madge is driving that.
‘I have got so much growth in me and that is what is exciting.
‘I feel like the position I play… it’s time for myself to start taking on more of a leader role.’
