New Orleans Pelicans star Zion Williamson showed off his brand new full-back tattoo – but all fans appear to care about is his physique as he was brutally mocked.
The star has been plagued with questions and accusations about his weight ever since he entered the league in 2019 – including from prominent media members like Stephen A. Smith.
While major injuries have – at times – prevented him from staying in peak physical shape, there have also been plenty of times where he’s been fit to play but just seems out of it. This is not one of those times as Williamson is currently dealing with a hamstring strain.
But fans were still concerned on Friday when Williamson showed off a massive, brand new tattoo taking up a good portion of his back of a demonic looking creature with massive teeth grinning.
A video showed the process of Williamson getting a tattoo – including one portion where a meal consisting of chicken and pasta is about to get served.
But when Zion turned to face the camera, fans made fun of his physique – which could be described as not the most athletic.
Fans mocked injured Pelicans star Zion Williamson over his not-so-athletic physique
‘Being an athlete and not being in shape lowkey disrespectful to the organization ngl,’ wrote one user on X, formerly Twitter.
Another said, ‘That boy Zion been eating good while missing those games.’
A different user took a screenshot of Williamson from when he turned to face the camera with the caption, ‘It’s so over.’
The basketball account for the fantasy sports app Sleeper wrote, ‘Bro allergic to the court.’
Others pounced on the meal being included in the footage, with one user saying, ‘Man even has food in his tat video.’
Williamson has missed the last seven games of the NBA season due to a left hamstring strain.
Speaking to Christian Clark of NOLA.com, he said, ‘When I left the arena, I felt fine. No problems. No nothing. Got up the next day, came in for treatments and was like “I feel more sore here than usual.” Got it checked out, then got that great news.’
It’s unclear when he might return as the Pelicans deal with six players with injuries – including other starters like Jose Alvarado and CJ McCollum among others.
