Chocolate fans have slammed Lindt’s £180 advent calendar for containing just £92 worth of treats.
The five-foot-tall advent calendar contains 24 days worth of ‘full-sized chocolate surprises’ including two edible teddy bears, a reindeer and a Santa Claus as well as a variety of Lindt’s sweet snacks and famous truffle balls.
However, some shoppers aren’t convinced the festive novelty buy is worth £180 with some claiming the contents are worth up to £100 less.
When Lindt announced the release of the advent calendar at UK Costco store it sent sweet-toothed Brits into a spin online.
‘Oh my god that’s a thing of beauty,’ one woman said and another wrote: ‘Wow!! Heaven!! I NEED this, especially as Christmas calories don’t count!!’
‘What dreams are made of,’ a third commented while someone added: ‘Now THAT’S what I call an advent calendar’.
Others were ‘shocked’ by the £180 price many dubbed as ‘insane’.
‘I’d want the master chocolatier to come and hand make me them daily for that price,’ one shopper joked.
Costco customers are racing to get their hands on Lindt’s five-foot advent calendar that costs an eyewatering £180 – but many are saying it’s not worth the price tag
‘At £7.50 per window I wanna see something spectacular inside,’ a second replied.
‘For that price I expect at least 25 days,’ another agreed.
Those who weren’t turned off by the price raced to Costco to get their hands on the calendar with many reporting some stores had sold out.
Costco customers who did manage to nab one of the Christmas countdowns shared mixed reviews.
While some loved the Lindt calendar, others were sceptical about whether the price was worth it as the contents could be bought at supermarkets for up to £100 less.
‘Just added this all up on Asda and Tesco and the total is £87.25,’ one person pointed out.
‘The value doesn’t add up to anywhere near £180,’ a second agreed.
‘Love it but £180 is a bit too much. Someone said the goods are roughly £90 full price at Tesco,’ a third chimed in.
The feedback wasn’t all negative with one saying: ‘Just saw a video of what’s inside the Lindt advent calendar, and it’s worth it, you get full size boxes of chocolates large Lindt rabbits’.
‘I think this would be a fun advent calendar for the whole family…not mine though because I don’t share,’ laughed another.
