- Lily Tang Williams said she is suffering ‘PTSD’ from scenes on college campuses
- Williams, a Republican congressional candidate, offered a stark warning
A survivor of Chairman Mao’s Cultural Revolution said she has suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder since watching ‘Marxist hordes’ overrun US college campuses.
Lily Tang Williams, a Republican candidate for Congress in New Hampshire, told Fox News that she sees ominous similarities between Mao’s Communist purge and students chanting ‘Death to America.’
‘I sometimes I get nervous, and I feel like I’m having a little bit of PTSD and like I can’t sleep well whenever I see the way they’re chanting,’ she said.
‘I just feel like, oh my goodness the… Red Guards are in action again.’

Tang Williams fled China in 1988 to study in America, a decade after Chairman Mao’s Cultural Revolution – a violent crackdown on elements of capitalism in Chinese society, which persecuted millions and destroyed culturally significant monuments in an anti-revolution purge
Tang Williams warned that students taking part in pro-Palestine protests are running the risk of losing the point of their message, and may be splintering into anti-American sentiment instead.
‘These students, they’re sometimes confused,’ she said, feeling that some are misunderstanding why they are even protesting in the first place.
The congressional candidate said this may be the result of young people’s minds being manipulated, which was a tactic notably used by Mao as he carried out his Cultural Revolution from 1966 to 1976.

‘Mao said, the young people’s mind is a blank piece of paper, and you can draw the most beautiful pictures,’ Tang Williams warned.
She also appeared to argue that students shy away from counter-arguments on their beliefs, comparing them to Mao’s violent movement centering around eradicating the ‘Four Olds’ – Old Ideas, Old Culture, Old Customs and Old Habits.
Tang Williams, who fled China in 1988, said she sees parallels between communist-ravaged communities and the chaos it brought to the ideologies of some young protestors on college campuses.

The pro-Palestine protests sparked chaos for months across America, but have begun to dissipate in recent weeks
And although the Cultural Revolution was based upon class, Tang Williams told Fox News that it is comparable with what she saw as a neo-Marxist Cultural Revolution centered around ‘oppressed’ identity groups.
‘It’s traditional Marxism. It’s oppressor versus oppressed. Doesn’t matter how many subcategories you put under each category,’ she said.
‘And it’s this movement’s agenda. It’s well-funded. And students on college campuses are leading the way.
‘They’re using this international conflict, chanting… ‘from the river to the sea’ before Israel even had the chance to launch the defense and go after Hamas.’
It comes as months of hostile pro-Palestine protests and clashes with aggressive police forces have eased off in recent weeks.
Students and faculty refused to budge from illegal encampments at the height of the turmoil, but were seen being cleared out without incident from universities including Harvard and NYU last week.
