Users report the outage has left them without service, causing dropped calls and unsent text messages.
Others have reported no internet service due to the disruptions.
An outage map shows issues in major cities, including New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago and Phoenix.
Downdetector, a site that monitors online issues, showed disruptions hit around 1:45pm ET, hitting a peak of more than 19,000 reports by 2:30pm ET.

Approximately 69 percent of issue reports to Downdetector site ‘No Signal,’ 18 percent ‘Mobile phone’ and 13 percent of users are experiencing a ‘Total blackout.’
Users are likely seeing ‘SOS’ somewhere on their iPhone or Android screen, meaning the device can only make emergency calls.
