McDonald’s fans have slammed a ‘disgusting’ recipe switch up of one of the franchise’s popular condiments.
Customers of the American fast-food chain have been left furious after spotting a subtle change to the Sweet ‘N’ Sour dipping sauce available in UK restaurants – saying the brand have ‘messed up’ the beloved flavour.
Taking to TikTok, one creator, @demmmx92 described the change as ‘absolutely disgusting’ and a ‘violation’.
‘So McDonald’s sweet and sour sauce has changed and it’s disgusting,’ she declared at the beginning of the clip.
Demi compared two pots of the beloved dip side by side with one another, revealing subtle changes to the packaging.

One pot featured a round plastic edge and a more vibrant green lid. As well as having slightly smaller writing on the front.
The new version also appeared a slightly different shade of orange compared to the original, which Demi blamed on the strong ‘apricot’ flavour. ‘It’s even lighter in colour,’ she said in the clip.
The video also revealed slight differences in the ingredients listed on the front of the packaging, suggesting the brand have updated their recipe.
The old pot features apricot puree, soy sauce as first ingredients, while the second doesn’t seem to contain soy sauce. The list also has a noticeably fewer ingredients
Captioning the video, Demi wrote: ‘Taste like pure apricot now,’ adding that ‘Mcdonald’s have really messed up the best sauce you know.’
According to the American chain’s website, the Sweet ‘N’ Sour dip is flavoured with: ‘A sweet/sour apricot flavour, lightly spiced with a sour aftertaste.’
The dip is one of a selection of dips available for free at the chain’s UK restaurants, along with ketchup, BBQ sauce and sweet curry sauce.
But fans of the chip dunking favourite have shared their disappointment over a ‘disgusting’ change to the recipe that has changed its popular flavour.

Others compared to the new recipe to the sweet curry dip, another free condiment provided in UK restaurants. ‘it has a hint of sweet curry to it… I literally thought I was buggin,’ one commented.
‘Thought it tasted more like the curry one, thought I’d picked the wrong one at first,’ wrote another in agreement.

Responding to claims made of a switch up to the dip’s recipe, a spokesperson for McDonald’s said: ‘We love how much our customers care about the little details, and some eagle-eyed fans have noticed a slight difference in our Sweet and Sour dip.
‘This is because we are currently using a contingency supplier, who also creates dips for McDonald’s in Germany.
‘While the recipe has a very minor variation, it has been fully approved by McDonald’s and crafted to the same high standards you know and love.’
