With Veterans Day just around the corner, popular restaurants have announced impressive discounts for former and active military personnel.
Monday’s holiday commemorates the end of World War I, even though the war technically ended on June 28, 1919 when the Treaty of Versailles was signed.
But fighting stopped about seven months earlier when a ‘cessation of hostilities’ between the Allies and Germany was put into motion on the ‘eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month,’ according to the Department of Veterans Affairs.
‘Veterans Day: a celebration to honor America’s veterans for their patriotism, love of country, and willingness to serve and sacrifice for the common good,’ the VA wrote.
More than 80 national businesses are expressing their gratitude for that sacrifice, USA Today reported. All veterans or active soldiers need is a form of military identification to take advantage of the savings.
