Having depression could make you more of a liability on the road as you age, according to a new study. Researchers from Washington University studied nearly 400 people 65 years and older for a year and found those with major depressive disorder were riskier drivers than those without the condition. The participants with depression were more likely than those without to drive unpredictably, brake abruptly and take corners too quickly, all of which raise the risk of car accidents.Approximately eight percent of American adults had major depressive disorder as of 2021 – representing about 21million people.
