British Airways has just produced a book called Flavour Of Flight, which chronicles the food and drink served on board its planes from 1919 until the present day.It starts with an effusive foreword by its chief executive Sean Doyle. ‘We know that our in-flight meals punctuate the travel experience and are eagerly anticipated,’ he says. ‘In fact, customers tell us it’s the part of the journey they look forward to most.’I’m not so sure about that. Not if you’re sitting at the ‘back of the bus’ on a short-haul flight and are handed a micro bag of corn bites and…
Barron Trump sounds like a fast learner. At New York University, where he recently started at the Stern School of Business, fellow students report that whenever any of them quiz him about his political views – very possibly virtuous young Democrats looking for any opportunity to have a blazing row – he tells them flatly that he doesn’t support any party.Given Barron’s studying at a school that on Wednesday staged one of the first anti-Trump protests, it may be the wise answer – but it almost certainly isn’t the honest one. An under-the-radar change at the Federal Election Commission (FEC) could allow ‘unlimited’ foreign money to flow into elections, election experts have warned. The FEC issued an advisory opinion earlier this month that allows federal candidates for office to solicit unlimited funds from anywhere for groups working for state ballot initiatives. That means if President Joe Biden is raising money for a state referendum on abortion, there are no limits to the donations he can request. If Donald Trump is raising money for a group to oppose such a referendum, the same would go for his campaign.Federal campaign finance law prohibits foreign nationals…
The recent altercation between Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid and Philadelphia Inquirer columnist Marcus Hayes has led to a discussion around media and athletes.Embiid was irate after Hayes criticized the superstar’s perceived lack of work ethic, with the columnist invoking the name of the center’s dead brother and his young son in the piece. That led to last Saturday night – when Embiid confronted Hayes, shoving him in the locker room, saying, ‘The next time you bring up my dead brother and my son again, you are going to see what I’m going to do to you and I’m going to…
